I can touch my tongue to my nose. I also bake, knit, embroider, and do paper cut illustrations.

Lindsey Finnan

Why do you barre so hard?
As a former gymnast and dancer, being at the Barre {moving to sick beats} has brought back so many great memories. It has also brought back those long, lean, toned muscles and has me feeling stronger than ever before! But what really keeps me going is the energy from this empowering community filled with so many inspiring barre stars and barre tenders that kick ass each and every day.

What is your guilty pleasure? 
Watching Real Housewives. And wine. Watching Real Housewives with wine.

Jill Blaney

Describe the BBS Tribe?
Four words: The best thing ever! I love going into the studio and seeing both the clients and instructors because everyone is so welcoming and inspiring – seriously! Walking into the studio is like an instant good mood booster. I'll take a cup o' it all day, every day!
 
What are your guilty pleasures?
Miss Vickie's Sweet Chili and Sour Cream chips, Hawkins cheezies and Reese's peanut butter cups. In an ideal world I'd eat the chips for breakfast, cheezies for lunch and peanut butter cups for dinner. Somedays, it's an ideal world.
 

Sarah Wright

Why do you barre so hard? 

 

I love barre simply because it is SO much fun! I started ballet at 2 ½ and
being at the barre takes me back to the fun days of dancing at the studio! The
energy at the studio is always addicting and I love how each class is different
and challenging.

 

If you had to choose 3 words to describe yourself, what would they be?

 


Compassionate, Attentive, & Fiery (I’m a ginger!)

 

Julia Johnson

Why do you barre so hard?
I love barre because it is a well rounded workout with physical and mental benefits. Coming from a dance background, I was really missing a workout that challenged me both mentally and physically in the way that dance did. I find that barre works similar muscles and requires an awareness of the body like a ballet class helping you to find that mind-body connection and stay present in your workout.

What keeps you inspired and motivated?
I am inspired and motivated by the amazing community of barrestars that show up to the studio every day. Everyone (clients and staff) is so welcoming and coming to barre is an instant mood booster.
 

Mary Jo Liew

Name: Mary Jo Liew

Why do you barre so hard?
Having danced growing up I missed the studio vibe and classical movements of ballet when working out. I have always made a point of being active but getting to the gym sometimes felt like a chore. The combination of dance, pilates and yoga inspired moves set to upbeat music is the perfect balance between form, function and fun. The workout is low impact yet effective and I know if I am a little sore the next day I have had a good workout. Exercising isn’t a chore anymore and look forward to the days when I can hit the studio.

Enjoy the little things – what little things make you smile?
My little guy Jack. He is always full of smiles and makes me laugh all the time. Watching him grow is the best thing ever. I also have a dog named Charlie. He is a black Goldendoodle, otherwise known as the happiest furry teddy bear around.

Carla McNeil

Why do you barre so hard? 
 

It’s an alternative to the gym that’s structured but is varied enough
that it never feels routine. It’s a full body workout that really targets
and tones the smaller areas of your body you don’t usually exercise.
 
What is your favorite post workout snack?
 
Always down for a smoothie loaded with lots of fruit and greens or
dates with almond butter and coconut

Kirsten Tullis

Why do you barre so hard?
I barre so hard for the results. I love the endorphins and the positive attitude I leave the class with. I love what barre has done to my body. I love the fact I need to go out and buy a bigger pair of jeans to fit my butt, and a smaller top to fit my waist.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what would you bring with you?
Sun cream, a great book, rum and coke in a giant cooler.

Michelle Shewchuk

Why do you barre so hard?
I barre so hard for the burn, the booty, the beats and the babes! I love feeling my body working hard, so the fact that barre can get my muscles burning & shaking in minutes is addicting. The results are incredible; it definitely keeps my body in shape and always feeling strong. I love the music and energy in each class and I always look forward to being around the inspiring instructors & clients.

Tell us something we don’t know about you!
I was a figure skater for most of my life up until my second year of University – I did singles skating as well as synchronized skating.

Lauren Chow

Name: Lauren  Hometown: Saskatoon, SK Why do you barre so hard? 
For the beats, the motivation, and the connection to one’s body. There 
is nothing like hearing that beat drop when you go into that combo 
movement and you whisper to yourself, “You got this…” (or is that just
 me?) The barre community here is so welcoming, inspiring, and 
empowering. Barre has pushed me further in my physical and mental 
state. If I push myself to hold that squeeze just a little longer at the 
barre, I can push myself to do a lot more! Tell us something that we don’t know about you! I’m a tap dancer! I’ve grown up tap dancing unofficially since I was 2
(thanks to my sis) and officially when I was 4! That’s why I love music 
that has a good beat to it. It’s instinctual for me groove out to that kind of music.

Elissa Jamieson

Why do you barre so hard?
I love barre because it makes me feel strong and pretty! Plus it keeps my body in great shape. 

What is your guilty pleasure?
Popcorn! I could eat a bowl of popcorn everynight. My favorite toppings right now are olive oil, sea salt and dill.


Megan Clark

Why do you barre so hard?
To feel strong and healthy. Barre has totally changed my life! I love the ladies I work with everyday, the community we have built and of course that burn that only barre delivers.

What is the best “side effect” you have noticed from barre?
Strength and endurance! I am constantly amazed at my ability with new activities and workouts.
One-hour of strength and flexibility training choreographed to music while incorporating the use of a ballet barre. A more basic approach to Barre Body Fit classes but equally as challenging.
